One of the most sacred shrines of Shia Islam suffered minor damage during
clashes between US forces and radical Shi'ite militiamen that killed at least 13
Iraqis, some of them civilians. It was unclear who was responsible for the
shrine damage.
In Baghdad, a car bomb near a hotel wounded at least five Iraqis, the US
military said. The target of the blast, about 100 metres from the Australian
embassy, was not immediately clear.
Police said they believed the car bomb may have targeted the Australian embassy,
and that it detonated prematurely. The Australian government said its troops in
Iraq were still investigating.
Australia sent 2,000 troops to take part in the invasion of Iraq and still has
850 military personnel in and around the country.
The attack in the Jadiriyah district occurred about 50 metres from the Karma
Hotel, where foreign journalists and UN weapons inspectors used to stay before
the war that ousted Saddam Hussein.
US Army Colonel Mike Murray said he did not believe there were Westerners at the
hotel.

"We don't know if it was a suicide bomber or not," Murray said.
He said five Iraqis were injured, including a 10-year-old boy who was critically
hurt. Windows in some nearby buildings were shattered.
Later, insurgents fired rockets from an apartment house toward a police station
in central Baghdad, triggering huge explosions and wounding one American
soldier, witnesses and officials said.
After the fighting in Najaf eased, people gathered at the Imam Ali shrine to
look at the damage. The inner gate of the shrine, leading into the tomb of Imam
Ali Ibn Abu Talib, appeared to have been hit by a projectile. Debris was
scattered on the ground.
Al-Jazeera television showed a torn veil covering the gate, and damage on the
wall around it. It also showed several injured people lying on the floor of the
mosque compound, and an angry crowd of more than 100 shouting and shaking their
fists at the site.
Supporters of Shi'ite militia leader Muqtada al-Sadr accused the Americans of
firing mortars at the mosque, and said 12 people were injured in the mosque
compound.
In Baghdad, US Army Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt told Al-Jazeera that the
shell that fell on the shrine was not American and was not fired by coalition
forces.
Another projectile landed outside the shrine, about 10 metres away from the
outer wall. Three militiamen were injured in that attack, and three fighters
were killed in fighting in the city, al-Sadr's office said.
Imam Ali was the Prophet Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law and he is the most
revered saint among Shi'ite Muslims.

Have you been following the soap opera that is the Athens Olympics preparations? I have and I have to wonder if they will ever be finished in time. Maybe they will still be working on their Olympic venues while the Olympic games are going on, working hard to finish each venue before the events begin. This is just like that first person shooter Duke Nukem Forever which will probably never be completed in our lifetimes. Sure there will be plenty of preview screenshots out there, but when will we ever get the game? Even a Alpha preview version would give some indication of what the gameplay is like. Doom3 will be released long before Duke Nukem and give it a hammering even though the graphics are a bit dark and drab, the gameplay will still be a strong point if they have many monsters and not much ammo in the later levels so that the players are forced to conserve ammunition. Ideally, they should not have too many weapons laying around in the later levels, but just enough to survive if you play the level with a pistol start.
MAP30 or whatever the final boss level will be, should be challenging of course, but not impossibly difficult or too easy. If it was like TNT Final Doom MAP32 "Carribean" then I would definitely play it.

Judging by the graphical quality in the preview movie I have watched recently the game will be a lot of fun to play, so when the hell is it going to be released? I want my Duke Nukem! I have seen screenshots that have shown extremely good graphical quality, so why is it not ready yet? Maybe I should buy a copy of the original Duke Nukem 3D and play that and hope wistfully for DNF to be released. Maybe they are waiting for Windows LongHorn to be released so that they can use that to run Duke Nukem Forever. I shudder to think of the system requirements though, which would make all current PC's obsolete. But such is progress I guess.

Wow, I was just watching "A Current Affair" on CH9 on the 21/05/2004 and there was an old woman that can feel Electro Magnetic Radiation. She cannot sleep near the Alarm Clock because of the EMR from the transformer inside and the Refrigerator has a foil shield around it to block the radiation from it as well. She looks like Bart Simpson in the episode where he was taking those drugs to stay alert in class and he was wearing that foil hat to shield his brain form the satellites. That is what this woman was doing, she had the foil hat and a conductive plate she stands on that conducts the electricity out of her body to a ground wire.

One thing I have never heard of before is someone being allergic to electricity. ACA website. for more information. This is freaky, very freaky. If she can sense aircraft passing overhead just by their EM radiation, then she could be very useful to the millitary. She could be on a ship and she could sense submarines passing below, so that the ships could drop their depth charges at the right moment and destroy the enemy. What a useful woman, serving the war effort!
